Review - The Knife of Never Letting Go

The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1)The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved this - such an original and thought provoking idea.

The Noise - thoughts of men projected vocally - is a fantastic concept, and having the first person perspective of a main character who cannot control his Noise provides an interesting angle (also loved that it was written in his style of dialogue too). Todd, the protagonist, grows as a character well as the novel progresses, as he is affected by love, loss, betrayal and knowledge. There are moments of horrible violence, but the brutality is never treated casually by the author, and it always has an impact on the characters.

Oddly, I read the sequel to this a few years ago as I received an advance copy. It's been great to finally read the first in the series, which didn't disappoint.

Can't wait to read the conclusion now...
