Outlining
A while back, Andrew asked me what my favourite way of sketching out ideas was. The answer - on paper, in my lovely little moleskine notepad.
I'll always scribble my ideas out first, sometimes with unhelpful pictures (I can't draw) beside them. I love writing on paper, and it's pleasant to sketch out scenes, dialogue, character names, and plot points on what I feel is a far less formal medium (for me) than my PC.
However, as soon as I come to outlining, I know I have to type it up. I need to be able to rewrite and rewrite with ease, and it's so much easier to do on the PC.
I'm outlining a feature idea at the moment, which is going ok. I don't always outline - particularly not with shorts - but I thought it would be worthwhile for a feature. I keep wanting to just start the script though, and see where it takes me. Perhaps I will...

1 musings:
I love outlining. It's almost the most exciting part of the writing process. Having ideas take shape, grow and sprout new ones, all within a simple and flexible environment (any Word processor, though I favor Open Office Writer at the moment). Love it. I only write poetry on paper anymore.
