Find a song that sums up what you think it means to be a writer and post the lyrics on your blog and why you've chosen it.
NB: It doesn't have to be your favourite song, it just has to express how you feel about writing and/or being a writer. It can be literal, metaphorical, about a particular form or aspect of writing - whatever you want. Then tag 5 others to do the same (reprint these instructions).


The song that immediately came to mind was Poisons' "Every Rose Has its Thorn."

I actually only really know this song from Bill and Ted, but I tried to sing it on Singstar Superstar recently, with hideous results.

Let's pretend there's meaning to my madness, and analyse possible reasons for this song springing to mind.

• as much as you might enjoy writing, you'll probably spend many lonely hours on it.
• you might have written your best piece ever, but chances are it's going to be changed - which you might not like, but have to accept.
• equally, you could write the best thing ever and never sell it.
• Um, ink's expensive?
