Red Planet Competition: 2008

This year's Red Planet competition has been announced.

In brief:

"The winner of this year's competition will receive:

• A £5000 prize
• Representation by a leading literary agency
• A script commission from Red Planet Pictures.

Runners up will have the opportunity to have their writing mentored by the Red Planet team.

Budding writers should send in the first ten pages of a 60 minute pilot script with television series potential. The entry should also include a one-page outline about the series."

Closing date is the 30th September, 2008.

I'm definitely going to enter this. I have an idea that is half formed which I think might work - it's a bit bizarre, a mix of drama and fantasy, but I'm keen to get it down on paper and this seems like the perfect opportunity.

I'm actually quite glad that this is for a series, as there would have been a great temptation to submit the same piece to this as to the Rise competition if they were both for features.
