Music Meme!
David has tagged me to: "List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now, shaping your spring. Post these instructions in your blog along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they’re listening to."
Okay then! I make no apologies for my varied taste in music.
Fantastic Cat by Takako Minewaka
How could anyone NOT like this? It's flipping amazing! I used it as the theme to a sushi video I made up:
If You Wanna Be Happy by Jimmy Soul
Fine, so the song might be about marrying ugly women who can cook rather than pretty women who will break your hearts, but it makes me dance around. Just like Cher and Winona Ryder do at the end of Mermaids...
Tainted Love by Gloria Jones
My favourite version of the song, and something I recently discovered I enjoyed running to.
25 Miles - Edwin Starr
One of my all time top songs ever - I have loved this for years and years. When we were kids, my brother and I loved the Elisabeth Shue film "Adventures in Babysitting" - which had this song on the soundtrack.
Typewriter Tip Tip Tip - Jakishan
I originally heard this on the Darjeeling Limited soundtrack - a film I have avoided after seeing Hotel Chevalier, but which has a great soundtrack!
Wada Na Tod by Lata Mangeshkar
Clearly I'm going through a Bollywood phrase. This was my ringtone for the last year or so - though I replaced it on Wednesday with Typewriter Tip Tip! I love Wada Na Tod, I have gathered a fair collection of Lata Mangeshkar songs now and this is my favourite.
Folsom Prison Blues by Johnny Cash
I always want to sing the line "I shot a man in Reno, just to see him die" out loud - not the sort of thing you want to announce to the world.
In the Hall of the Mountain King by Edvard Greig
From Peer Gynt - an album I love to write to. I wrote a fairtale script recently and this album was just the perfect accompaniment to it. I think this particular piece is the easiest to pull from the rest and listen to on its own.
Looks like half the blogging community has been hit by this but I tag Andrew, Edda, David T, MJ, Mike Chalmers, John Soanes and Zoe, in the off chance that someone hasn't already been tagged.

Mercy for le meme!
I came so close to putting in the Gloria Jones version of Tainted Love in my seven, so it's nice to see it here. The original and best.
