My Celebrity Look Alikes...

My friend sent me over a link for a site on which you can submit a photo of yourself and be told who you "look like". Below are my celebrity others - I don't think they would be too flattered...

1. Natalie Imbruglia
2. Gene Tierney
3. Rose McGowan
4. Halle Berry (!)
5. Rachel Leigh Cook
6. Carmen Electra

Who do you look like??

(PS if you came to this page about an hour ago you would have been subjected to a photo of me. Embarassment prevails and I have removed it.)

A bit of fun - Draw a House

Yesterday my friend gave me the URL for Draw A House, a nice website that asks you to draw a house and then gives you a little personality test afterwards. Your house is saved along with everyone elses, so you can see what other people have drawn and what they are really like!

I quite enjoyed this, a good 10 minutes of calm...

(Do you like my vegetable garden?)

No rest for the wicked

Crikey.

I have been rushed of my size 6's the last couple of weeks. Work has been really busy, I've been moving house, I appear to have more social commitments than normal, and I'm ever so sleepy all the time. I've had absolutely no time to write, and little inclination!

Thankfully things should settle down from now on, as I have been able to hire someone to help me at work (I'm also getting kept on whilst at Uni - Yay! There's a bit of pressure eased!), I've temporarily moved in with my lovely boyfriend, Saturday marks my last festival event and I plan to sleep for at least 20 hours this weekend (although that isn't going to happen).

On Saturday I go to the Gillian Baverstock event at the Book Festival, in which she talks about "Growing up with Enid Blyton". I'm looking forward to this, hopefully the 9 year old inside me who was obsessed with the Malory Towers and St Clares' books will be satisfied. I may well blog on this next week!

The Flying Scotsman

We went to see the premiere of the Scottish Film "The Flying Scotsman" on Monday night. It was the opening film of the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and is the story the Scottish cyclist Graeme Obree, loosely based on a period he details in his autobiography.

Starring Johnny Lee Miller as Obree, with great support from Billy Boyd, Laura Fraser and Brian Cox, the film follows Obree as he builds his "old faithful" bike, enters various competitions, feuds with the cycling governing body and battles severe depression.

The film is a first for director Douglas Mackinnon and writers Declan Hughes and John Brown, and I thought it was really good. The subplots were interesting and added a bit of humour to the often bleak main storyline. I have it on good authority (from my boyfriend) that the story did not really follow the facts, but no matter, it was well driven and compelling.

I'd recommend this film, I really enjoyed it and would happily watch it again. There was a little presentation before the film by the MD of the Film Festival, Douglas Mackinnon, Brian Cox and finally a nervous seeming Graeme Obree (who assured everyone that he was better now). There was a fantastic atmosphere in our screening, during the talk, the film and at the end credits - it got a huge round of applause and a standing ovation at the front of the crowd!

I've heard that this has had at least one bad review following the premiere, but I really don't see why. The film may be amazingly depressing at times, but there is a lot of love, friendship, determination and triumph in there too, so I certainly didn't come away feeling bad!

The film still needs to be picked up by a distributor, and I really hope that this happens following this screening.

Spammity spamming gits

I just remembered - I was getting spammed on my blog so have turned off annonymous comments.

I came back after not looking at my blog for a week, and found loads of comments. "Hurrah!" I thought to myself, "Fame at last!" But no. Just some flippin spammy git.

I do apologise if this annoys anyone! (I say this like lots of people comment or care, which is not the case.)

Out and about

Not had much time to blog recently, or much to blog about either, to be honest! I did do some writing as planned on my week off, but unfortunately not half as much as I'd hoped to. I spent a lot of time with family and friends instead, which is better for a holiday anyway :)

I am a couple of chapters into my novel now, which doesn't sound like much but feels nice nonetheless. I've been writing on my lunchbreaks again, and I still enjoy it so much. If only all my usual haunts weren't crowded with festival folk! I'm looking forward to the onset of the Book Festival, as I like nothing more than sitting in Charlotte Square Gardens and either reading or writing (whilst doing the odd bit of people spotting).

I'm very jealous of all you lucky peeps who are attending the BBC Q&A workshop next Tuesday. Hope we are going to get some blog updates on that! I wish I could go, but alas, I do have work commitments that day. However, I procured tickets for a BBC Radio Writing session on the 21st which should be good anyway.

This weekend will be spent writing, getting my useless eyes tested, and "larging" it at the Fringe on Saturday night. Going to see a comedy show of some sort, which should be either great or awful, as Fringe shows tend to be (I don't ever find a medium!).

IMDB makeover

I notice that the IMDB has had something of a makeover. The names of crew in a film now have their associated IMDB photos beside them, and still from the movie are included about the cast list. Profiles have been update to include "celebrity" photos too...

I'm always excited when something new happens on IMDB. I think it's the only website I've been checking regularly since my early experiences online, and I enjoy confirming my own film knowledge with it...
